The Employer of Excellence Award is presented annually to an employer who provides exemplary human resource services to their employees.

To be eligible for this award, companies must participate in the Merit Benefit Plan and the nomination must be submitted by employees by completing the downloadable Employer of Excellence Nomination Form.

Journeyperson
of the Year
Award

Each year Merit Nova Scotia recognizes a member company apprentice who has successfully completed their apprenticeship and achieved his or her Red Seal as our Merit Journeyperson of the Year. To be eligible, the employee must be employed by a Merit member company and be nominated by his/her Employer.

Apprenticeship Tuition
Reimbursement Program

Please note the provincial government has announced that it will be covering this expense beginning in Fall 2017.  If it ceases making these funds available to apprentices, Merit Nova Scotia will reinstate this program.

Apprenticeship Tuition Reimbursement Program

Please note the provincial government has announced that it will be covering this expense beginning in Fall 2017.  If it ceases making these funds available to apprentices, Merit Nova Scotia will reinstate this program.

Merit Nova Scotia provides partial Apprenticeship Tuition Reimbursement for eligible apprentices on the Mercon Benefit Plan.

Applications must be received by the Merit office within two months of completion of the course. For prompt processing, ensure all required information is provided.

To be eligible for the Tuition Reimbursement Program, the following requirements must be met:

Employment by a Merit member company and in benefit on the Mercon Benefit Plan for a minimum of three months prior to attending the block training,

02

Successful completion of the training course (no more than two courses in one calendar year)

03

A return to work for a Merit Member Company participating in the Mercon Benefit Plan.
