MERIT Nova Scotia recognizes a member company apprentice who has successfully completed their apprenticeship and achieved his or her Red Seal as our MERIT Journeyperson of the Year. To be eligible, the employee must be employed by a MERIT member company and be nominated by his/her Employer.

MERIT Nova Scotia provides awards annually in the amount of $1,000 in the spring awards cycle and they are open to graduates of CANS Building Futures for Youth program and graduates of the O2 (Options & Opportunities) program who are entering their first year of full-time studies in one of the programs in the School of Trades & Technology at NSCC.

A $1,000 award is given annually in the spring awards cycle to a female NSCC community college student entering the trades.

MERIT apprentices are eligible to receive support from
MERIT Nova Scotia if they compete in the Skills Competition.
