WHY WE EXIST

We exist for one reason – to keep people working in Nova Scotia’s Construction Industry.

Specifically, it means that:

  • We collaborate with construction industry stakeholders and post-secondary institutions to increase the relevance of, and improve apprenticeship training;
  • We challenge legislation and practices that limit the freedom and flexibility for skilled trades people to work; and
  • We oppose any unfair work practices that put open shop business owners and their employees at a disadvantage.

HOW WE DO IT

We work side-by-side to champion flexibility, freedom & growth – no excuses.

As partners in a strong construction sector, creating new opportunities for growth means we are fully invested in empowering each other, and our employees on a daily basis. For us it’s pretty simple – the best way forward is to ensure we all succeed as open shop contractors and workers.

  1. We champion open shop businesses and workers for one reason, to keep people working.
  2. We believe true leadership is fueled by shared respect, not job titles.
  3. When others might throw in the towel, we find a way.
  4. We believe front-line talent deserves the opportunity to learn and grow.
  5. We believe working side-by-side as partners is the only way forward.
  6. We refuse to accept the status-quo if it restricts a team’s freedom and flexibility.
  7. We believe success is best measured by a focused desire to figure it out.
